JOB SUMMARY
Produces two-dimensional ultrasonic recordings and doppler flow analyses of heart and related structures for use by Physician in diagnosis of heart disease and study of heart by performing the following duties.  May be required to work flexible hours.  
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  
All outcome based duties and standards within this department will be performed according to the established policies, procedures and guidelines within the department and organization.  Performs echocardiographic examinations, assuming responsibilities for the quality of the examination and using clinical judgment to determine the need for additional testing protocols.  Assess, prepare and perform echocardiographic examinations (M-mode, 2-dimensional doppler, transesophageal and stress).  Provide for emotional support, physical comfort and safety of patients and visitors.  Maintains equipment and area in working condition.  Assists with other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, & EXPERIENCE
Graduate of accredited school of ultrasound/echocardiography or equivalent
One year previous experience in echocardiographym preferred
 
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE                                                     
RDCS registered or registry eligible in adult echo.  Must obtain RDCS registration in adult echo within one year of hire date.  OR
RCS registered or registry eligible in adult echo.  Must obtain RCS registration in adult echo within one year of hire date.
BLS certification
 
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong interpretive and analytical skills
Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
Ability to perform patient studies using all types of cardiac ultrasound equipment
High level of attention to detail in view of highly sophisticated equipment
