CNC TECHNICIAN LEVEL III REQUIREMENTS include, but are not limited to, the following: Expert level skills in all aspects of CNC vertical milling including programming, setup, fixturing, run, tool selection, speeds, feeds, troubleshooting, etc. Consistently works at 105-120%, based on standard times allotted. Completes all work assignments with zero to near zero scrap. Successfully completes work assignments in all production areas including CNC mills, CNC lathes, manual machining, and assembly. Produces parts that are visually appealing as well as conforming to all specifications. Works successfully without supervision. Consistently improves current skills and learns new ones without direction or standardized training. Increases knowledge of manufacturing processes through research and trade magazines. Works independently and without direction to continually improve processes, procedures, and documentation. Completes all required documentation accurately, fully and in a timely manner. Takes a leadership role in, and helps to maintain by example, a company culture that emphasizes cleanliness, organization, responsibility and a positive outlook. Has perfect to near perfect attendance. Willing and available to work additional overtime hours or shifts as needed. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Program CNC vertical mills at all levels of difficulty (including prototypes, close tolerance, high finish, and unusual materials) in preset time limits using a CAM system, G-code and M-code. Program CNC lathes using G-code. Inspection of parts using a CMM and other precision measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, etc. Recording the inspections performed electronically or on hand written inspection forms as required. Initiate and facilitate process, procedural and documentation improvements. Occasionally participate in quoting by estimating times for initial set ups and runs, and costs for required tooling on new parts. Capable of performing low to medium level CNC and manual machine repairs. Capable of making educated recommendations for new or alternate tooling. Studies and correctly interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining. Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines in a preset time standard. Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve saved programs from the server. Verifies that the revision level required matches the saved program. Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions, out-of-tolerance machining, or cycle times that are above the preset standard and makes adjustments as required. Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications and per the Inspection Procedure. Records results of inspections and required. Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data. Keeps accurate records including quantities of parts run and cycle times. Produces and maintains detailed set up sheets and photographs. Performs finishing operations on parts during machine cycle times as possible. Assembles and presets tooling for next operation during automated cycle to reduce machine downtime. Performs regular and special maintenance on equipment. SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Setup and run CNC lathes. Setup and run NC controlled mills and lathes, and grinders (manual machining). Assembly. Perform finishing operations. Building and grounds maintenance. Participate in safety, and other, training as scheduled.
